Privacy policy
This policy covers smartlocksuk.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, ask and we will explain it plainly.
Who is responsible for your data
SmartLocksUK is a trading name of Henry Dennis, who is the data controller for this site. You can reach us about anything in this policy through our contact page.
What we collect
- What you send us. If you use the contact form we receive your name, email address and message. We keep these so we can reply and so we have a record of the correspondence.
- No Google Analytics. We do not run Google Analytics or any other third-party tracking on this site, so there is no tracking cookie and nothing to consent to.
- Visit counts. Our own server counts visits to this site, so we know how many people read it and roughly where they are. It works out the country and town from your IP address, using a location database kept on our own server, and then discards the address: we never store it and nothing is sent to anyone else. Each visitor is kept only as a scrambled code that changes every day, so we cannot follow anyone from one day to the next. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. Counts are kept for about 13 months. We do this under our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is being read (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- Spam protection. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks the submission is not automated.
We do not sell anything on this site, so we never take payment details. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare — content delivery and spam protection for the site.
- Mailgun — delivers the notification email when you use the contact form.
- DigitalOcean — hosts the site and its database, in London.
How long we keep it
Contact form correspondence is kept for up to two years, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Ask through the contact page and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Our visit counts use no cookie, and we run no Google Analytics, so there is nothing to ask you to consent to and no cookie banner.
